Hosted by Dr. Dominique Denman\, Soul & Spirit invites the community into a meaningful Black History Month celebration rooted in faith\, creativity\, and collective memory. The program also features Dr. Kellie Turner\, and Ms. Alanna Piper. All are warmly invited to experience Soul & Spirit where you can expect a 90-minute curated sacred arts program of Gospel music\, Jazz\, and Spoken Word performances\, a welcoming\, reflective\, and celebratory atmosphere with a diverse audience from across the Lancaster community. There is no charge for the concert\, but an offering will be received to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. This also marks the final farewell concert for QuintEssentially Brass\, the popular and talented local quintet\, who will retire at the conclusion of the concert. The concert will feature carols arranged for brass\, including “O Come\, O Come Emmanuel\,” “ Over the River and Through the Woods\,” and “Jesu\, Joy of Man’s Desiring\,” as well as other beloved sounds of the season\, continuing their tradition of playing music that has touched hearts over the years.

Healey Willan; Deck the Halls\, arr. Parker & Shaw; The Little Road to Bethlehem\, Michael Head; The Yearning\, Craig Courtney\, as well as other beloved sounds of the season. Jessica Kistler\, a well-known local flautist\, and Andrew Pickett\, percussionist and chorale member\, will accompany the chorale on several pieces. The Heritage Chorale\, now in its 31st year\, strives to promote and preserve the choral art form through performance excellence. DESCRIPTION:The Reverend Dr. Dominique Denman\, pastor of First Reformed United Church of Christ\, will host a special Veteran’s Day service on Tuesday\, November 11 at 10 am. The program in the historic 1854 church sanctuary at 40 East Orange Street\, will include music\, prayers\, and a reading by 96 year-old Korean War era Veteran Bill Sloyer. Mr. Sloyer\, a Lancaster native\, is a lifetime member of First Reformed Church. Others participating include Vietnam Veterans Don Markley and Jim Chryst\, reading “American Creed” and “Old Glory” respectively. Baritone Rick Weinhold will sing “In Flander’s Fields” and additional music will be provided by Doug Albert\, trumpet\, and Larry Hershey\, organ. Veterans and all who wish to honor them are invited to the service at 10 am. Light refreshments will follow the service.

SUMMARY:Morrison to Play Pipe Organ Dedication
DESCRIPTION:Internationally acclaimed concert organist\, Alan Morrison\, will play the dedicatory concert for the recently completed Hill Byrne Christiansen Memorial Pipe Organ at First Reformed Church\, 40 East Orange Street in downtown Lancaster on Sunday\, November 17 at 3:00 PM. The organ\, in loving memory of Rita Jane (Barton) Hill Byrne and The Reverend Ronald and Darlene Christiansen\, is a rebuilt Sebastian Gundling organ that was repaired\, restored\, and enhanced under the craftsmanship of Larry Pruitt at Columbia Organ Works. Mr. Morrison enjoys a versatile career and his concert performances throughout North America\, South America\, Europe\, and Russia have all been received with enthusiastic praise for his quality programming\, colorful use of the organ and interpretive integrity. He is a regular performer at Marian Anderson Hall in Philadelphia\, where he performs as soloist\, concerto soloist\, with choral and brass groups\, and with The Philadelphia Orchestra. The concert in the historic 1854 First Reformed sanctuary is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will follow the recital.

The historic instrument is a restored and enhanced pipe organ built by the late Sebastian Gundling of Lancaster that is now installed in the balcony of the 1854 First Reformed Church at 40 E.
